The Kinslaying by ivoignob The Kinslaying by ivoignob
Thus at the last the Teleri were overcome, and a great part of the mariners that dwelt in Alqualonde were wickedly slain. For the Noldor were become fierce and desperate, and the Teleri had less strength, and were armed for the most part but with slender bows. Then the Noldor drew away their white ships and manned their oars as best they might, and rowed them north along the coast.

The Silmarillion
Of the flight of the Noldor
J.R.R. Tolkien

Another Tolkien-based illustration which not fits the description (Oh my god, I forgot the rows!!! :-P). Anyway, I'm happy that it's finaly done, and I will think twice before aiming to make such a complicated scene again :-)

Thank you.  I was inspired by that after all. Maybe I should mention it in the description :)

Hey...how much would an image like this cost? How long would it take to complete?

Sorry for being this late. Actually I'm not the seller-guy (other people are better at illegally selling my stuff). To be honest, I have no idea how long that took and how much it would be worth :)

Sorry for the late reply. Yes it was very sad indeed. But as such, it was very captivating as well.

Most definitely a must-read - it took me about two years for me to find a copy (and I was pretty excited when I found one).

Terrific work! So much going on here - I can really sense the patience that must have went into this.

Great piece!

 Yes, & all free time is devoted to art. I think my attention span is what's the problem for the most part. I tend to get things done in sections instead of long drawn out sessions like in the past.

Hey, it's the same with me. I always draw in sections, even though I am not able to devote all my free time to art as you do. You are very lucky! :)

Job and university. But mostly it's the lack of willpower. Back in my depressive days drawing was so much easier :)

For some reason this piece reminds me of an art piece in my old AP European History book. I think it was about the Hundred Years War, the style just immediately brings it to mind.
One or two of the heads look a little disproportionate but I am very much in love with the Swan Ships of Death :D.

Yeah, it's so difficult to read (for me ;)) and so amazing at the same time. Like some kind of mythology or religion, pure beauty. Now I reading "Unfinished Tales" and rthe magic is still here if you know what I mean.

You're welcome by the way.

I must admit, that "Unfinished Tales" is the only Middle-Earth related book of Tolkien, I haven't read yead. I think it's because they are - you know - unfinished. I've heard, that the names and everything are very different from the ones that we know through the "Silmarillion" which is alone a difficult piece to read. I'm not sure if I have the discipline to read the "Unfinished Tales", therefore. Would you propose it anyway?

To be honest I'm not sure if it's a good thing that these tales differ so much from Tolkien's vision from Silmarillion/LOTR/The Children of Hurin etc. That vision was complete and reading stories from Unfinished Tales is a bit weird. Because there are some things (I won't tell you in case you'll read it) which are totally discordant to the rest of the books.
It should be read only if you know the rest of the books in my opinion :)

(is my message clear? my english isn't perfect :P)

I like Christopher's comments in the book. The stories are just... unfinished - like you said - for me :)
